“But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them”.
That was from the song “ Time in a Bottle”, by Jim Croce.
I have always wanted to learn a coding language but I never got to get past the Hello World part of the lesson, I found the sample code very intimidating and boring at the same time. When I applied at Amazon Technical Academy, that is when I got the motivation to give it a serious try. I started at Coursera’s Duke University and teach myself to code in Java.
I was awed by its power. Suddenly, I was hooked. It has since become a sort of hobby for me now. For those who are hesitant to learn to code for the same reason as mine, let me say this, learning how to code is like watching a movie in which the first ten minutes are boring, but then there comes a surprise scene and viola you will be laughing, shouting, thinking, and crying at the same time, and you don’t even want the movie to end.
That is how I felt about my journey in learning a computer language.
You are probably wondering how the title of this blog relates to this content. Well, that is the title of the first poem that I read as a child, the first time I realized I can read. And that is how I felt with the first code I have written. Unforgettable.
And that song by Jim Croce, sometimes you do not really know what you want to do or want to become until it’s too late.
And I hope the song and artist that I mentioned here did not give away my age(LOL).
